Privacy notice
Support-O says good morning once a day. If the morning goes unanswered, it tells the people you chose. This notice says exactly what that takes, and nothing here is written to be clever about it.
What stays on your phone and never leaves it
These are stored on your own device and are never sent to us or to anybody else:
- Your medications — names, doses, times, days, food notes
- The photographs you take of your pills
- Your exercises
- Your water goal
If you uninstall the app, they are gone. We could not produce them if we were asked to, because we never had them.
What the server needs, and why
For somebody to be told when you do not answer, a computer that is not your phone has to be watching the clock — a phone that is switched off cannot raise the alarm about itself. So these few things are kept on our server:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The name you chose | So the morning message and any text says who it is about |
| Your morning time and time zone | So we say good morning at the right moment |
| How long we wait before telling anyone | So we do not call your family too early |
| Your language | So the text arrives in a language they read |
| The names and phone numbers you added | So there is somebody to tell |
| Whether you pressed Thank You, and when | This is the whole point of the app |
| A record of messages we tried to send | So a failure can be found and fixed |
An anonymous identifier is created for your phone when you first open the app. It is not your phone number, your email, or your name, and it is not shared.
Who else sees any of it
- Twilio delivers the text messages. To do that they receive the phone number being texted and the message itself, which contains your first name. They do not receive anything else.
- Nobody else. There is no advertising in Support-O, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. There never will be.
The people you add
You are telling us someone else's phone number. Please ask them first. When you add someone, we send them one text saying who added them and that they will only hear from us if your morning goes unanswered. They can reply STOP at any time and we will not text them again; the app will show you that they did. You can remove anyone at any time, and they stop being contacted as soon as your phone next reaches our server.
Deleting everything
In the app: Settings → Delete everything. It erases what is on the phone and tells the server to erase its copy — your record, your contacts, your check-in history, the lot. Nothing is kept.
If the app will not open, write to icalledtwice@gmail.com from any
address and say you want your Support-O data deleted, and we will do it by hand.
Children
Support-O is not for children and we do not knowingly keep any information about anyone under 13.
What Support-O is not
Support-O is not a medical device, a monitoring service, or an emergency service. It cannot promise that any alert will be sent or that it will arrive — phones get switched off, batteries die, signal drops and services fail. If you have not heard from someone in a while, go and check on them. That has always been the only thing that truly works.
Changes
If this notice changes we will update the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your phone, the app will tell you before it takes effect.
